Autumn Memories
We all have them... excellent memories of gathering around the family table with friends and loved ones. As a child my memories were of gray skies that held the promise of an early snow, the upcoming holidays (everything from Halloween to Christmas), and all that fantastic food (my family loved to cook).
They were times that, to my young mind, seemed simpler. It was about gathering with friends and cousins, and having fun. On the holidays my mom and all my aunts would gather in the kitchen and make magic. And, a small boy who just happened to wander in, would get a pat on the head, and a sample of things to come from the end of a tasting spoon (I wandered into the kitchen a lot).
Many years now lie between myself and those innocent times, and every Autumn as the days become shorter, the temperature begins to drop, and the leaves turn color and fall to the earth, I find myself looking back with a fond nostalgia. It was a simpler life... at least to young eyes.
Yet, no matter how many years pass, they will never dampen my spirit for those days... I keep the spirit alive in my heart, my soul, and especially in my cooking.
That's what Autumn Memories is all about. Gathering together with friends and family around a table full of the Fall's bounty. And I want you to share your memories with me. Tell me about those special times that you experienced, and I will try to include them in this volume.
